A Message from Fight for the Future:
“Congress is trying to make sure the public doesn’t have a voice in negotiations around the Trans-Pacific Partnership. They’re trying to “Fast Track” the secret deal, threatening our Internet and our democracy. Fight back by joining the Internet Vote on April 23rd. Together we will use the power of the Web to demand transparency and give people everywhere a voice against censorship.
Twitter is one of our most powerful platforms for making sure decision makers know we’re paying attention. Join our campaign on Twitter and help keep the Internet free of censorship.

The TPP would be a nightmare for Internet users everywhere — here are a few articles about the worst parts.
- Force sites to remove allegedly infringing content from the web without a court order — similar to SOPA.
- Create harsh criminal penalties for journalists and whistleblowers.
- Punish Internet users who share copyrighted material, even without any personal gain.
- Limit Fair Use to make copyright even more restrictive on creative innovation.
There are a lot of other reasons groups oppose the TPP beyond its impact on the free and open Internet. You can find out more information about those reasons at StopFastTrack.com.
We need to be as big and visible as possible to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership — that’s the only way we can win this fight. We all need to get as many people in our audiences, readerships, and communities motivated to do something. We can make this powerfully epic, but only if you help. Companies need to be the frontrunners, leaders, and heroes on this because we’ve seen time and time again with SOPA, Reset The Net, and net neutrality that it’s the key ingredient to raising the bar and making sure everyone goes big.
Time is short — Congress is introducing a bill to Fast Track the TPP in the coming weeks, so we need to act now.
The TPP is the kind of bad legislation that only comes along once every 10 or 20 years. It has pieces of every bad Internet policy we’ve fought against, and if it passes now we’ll be kicking ourselves for decades, fighting uphill battle after uphill battle on copyright reform, whistleblower protections, and so much more. Doing the most we can right now is the only rational step to protecting the open Internet.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m voting for Cindy Sheehan for Governor. Here’s why she is getting my vote. Not only is she an outspoken anti-war/peace activist, she opposes corporate rule, is a woman (we need many more in office!), she is a third-party progressive (the only real kind, other than a few exceptions like Alan Grayson and Elizabeth Warren), and she is running on the Peace & Freedom ticket. Mr. Jerry Fracking Brown, the Democratic candidate, is certainly NOT progressive, bowing as he does to the oil industry and other corporate interests. Haven’t we had enough of the two-party corporate-owned tyranny?
Cindy writes on her website why she is running for governor: “primarily because I believe that California should be leading the nation in peace, education, health care, sustainable/renewable energy and democracy.” Secondarily, she writes that she feels the only way to halt the corporate stranglehold is by running as a third-party candidate, thereby challenging the two-party system which collaborates with and enables corporate rule. This is why I support her and the Peace & Freedom Party, which represents and fight for the rights and benefit of the 99%, not the over-privileged 1%.
P&F recognizes that capitalism is the vehicle of classism and imperialism and is inimical to democracy, and clearly states this in its platform without equivocation. Our system is in grave need of socialization, in every sense of the word, in view of the winner-take-all, mean-spirited, violent, war-obsessed plutocracy we currently have where profit rules supreme in a corrupt political landscape where money is “speech” and corporations are “people” while actual people are reduced to a commodity to be manipulated and ruled.
Remember to vote on Tuesday and remember we can now vote for any candidate of any party in California, so I hope you consider voting for Cindy Sheehan for Governor!
The California Peace and Freedom Party is the only socialist and feminist political party on the ballot in California and has the largest voter registration of any socialist party in the U. S., nearing 80,000 currently. P&F’s preamble reads, “The Peace and Freedom Party is an open, multi-tendency, movement-oriented socialist party. We are united in our common commitment to socialism, democracy, feminism and unionism and our common opposition to capitalism, imperialism, racism, sexism and elitism.” For more information, visit peaceandfreedom.org.
Move-to-Amend’s “Legalize Democracy” video now can be seen on YouTube. Watch it to learn the history of why we are in the situation we are in with regard to corporate rule and the subversion of our democracy at: http://youtu.be/O2-q-RBiWhk
We CAN and we WILL pass a constitutional amendment to abolish corporate “personhood” and money as “speech!”
Wisconsin Representative Rick Nolan introduced House Joint Resolution 29 today, for which Move-to-Amend has been garnering grassroots support over many years. The “We the People Amendment” is a simple, clear, unequivocal statement that corporations are not “persons” and money is not “speech,” in alignment with the intent of the U. S. Constitution, which does not recognize corporate “rights,” assigning rights only to human persons. Indeed, the Constitution does not even mention corporations and the framers were very aware of the abuses that could be done by corporations, instruments then of the 1% as they are today; hence their conspicuous absence from the founding documents.
Because of the 1886 Supreme Court clerk’s decision to include the misbegotten concept of corporate “personhood” in the header of the Southern Pacific Railroad v. Santa Clara County decision, we have been subjected to 127 years of corporate abuse of our Bill of Rights, as they have claimed first, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and 14th amendment rights in order to subvert our democracy and circumvent laws passed for the protection of the rights and freedoms of the citizenry. We must reclaim our fundamental, sovereign, exclusive Constitutional rights and end corporate rule. Call your congressperson today and urge him or her to vote for the “We the People Amendment”!! Climate change is a serious threat to life on this planet. Due to the overuse of fossil fuels, the CO2 levels in the atmosphere continue to rise causing drought, glaciers to melt, sea levels to rise, the frequency and severity of hurricanes and noreasters like the recent Sandy mega-storm, to increase. We MUST take steps to reverse this trend and turn to greener alternatives such as wind, solar, and geothermal sources of power, which we have in abundance.
The only reason this shift has not occurred is the greed of the billionaire class who own the fossil fuel industry and the collusion our government through the subversion of our democracy and the capture of our regulatory agencies. The core reason for this is corporate “personhood” which has been abused by the corporate world to claim they have rights equivalent to human beings. This must stop. Take a look at the videos below for some graphic and serious explanations of the impact of global warming and what we can do to stop it and check out Move to Amend for more information about corporate “personhood” and money as “speech” and what you can do to help pass a constitutional amendment to end these two illegitimate legal doctrines that have hampered environmental progress at every turn.
